Eugene Reynolds, 89, a retired Calhoun teacher and farmer from the Greatest Generation, was returned to the sod Sunday, following a funeral recalling his life.
He was honored by an Honor Guard for his military service, having served in World War II with the US Army, the 36th Division in Europe, having receiving the Purple Heart and Oak Leaf Cluster for having been twice wounded.
Pastor Mary Zimmer said, "His family said he rarely spoke about his combat, essentially saying his service to America was just the right thing to do."
