The 2014 Calhoun-Gilmer Counties Relay for Life Committee held a wrap up meeting on Monday, July 28. Members of the committee and team captains met with American Cancer Society representative Carmen Hathaway to look back, evaluate and begin plans for the 2015 event.
In 2014, there were eleven teams participating of which four were new. There were 50 survivors registered for the event which almost doubled the anticipated goal. The goal for 2014 was to raise $17,000. However, the teams banded together and with great support from our sponsors, a total of $23,455.82 was raised. This doesn't include some outstanding pledges that haven't been received yet so way to go Calhoun and Gilmer Counties!
The Committee would like to say a very special thank you to our sponsors and would like to encourage everyone to stop by these establishments and show your appreciation. Sponsors for 2014 were: Butler & Co. Woodworking; Bling Eagle Studio; Cain Oil & Gas; Calhoun Banks, Inc.; Calhoun Chronicle; Drilco Oil & Gas Corporation; Foodland; Furr's Auto Sales; Houchin Construction; Loren B. Howley, Attorney; Minnie Hamilton Health System; Rogers & Sons Oil & Gas; Stump Funeral Home; Hur Herald; U & S Trucking LLC; WV Trapper's Association, 104.7 WVRC and 107.7 WVRW.
