MINGO SHOOTING - State Police shot and killed Mingo County man Randy Matheney, 31, Sunday night, after he fled an accident with a baby.
State Police were investigating an accident in which Matheney had fired a gun. His wife was taken to the hospital as Metheney fled with the baby.
Police tracked the man down at his home on 12 Pole Creek, and when he was approached he lifted his gun at troopers, at which time they shot him.
The infant was reportedly o.k.
RAND GUNFIRE -
An armed robbery is being investigated at Rand 3:30 a.m. Monday.
The caller reported being robbed at gunpoint, the suspect approached the man in a car and was upset when the victim only had a small amount of money.
The suspect reportedly fired several shots near the victim, and then ran from the scene.
KANAWHA TRANSIT MALL STABBINGS -
27-year-old Jarvis Mitchell is behind bars accused of stabbing a man and a woman with a box cutter at the Transit Mall in Charleston.
Victims told police they were at the Transit Mall around 11:05 p.m. Friday night when a man they didn't know came up and asked them for a cigarette. The victims say the man then cut them with a box cutter.
Officers found Mitchell's blood soaked shirt and a box cutter nearby.
Mitchell is charged with two counts of malicious wounding.
