A car and tractor trailer collided yesterday on Rt. 16 near Smithville, WV. Christopher Ross, 23, of Harrisville was injured in
the accident and life-flighted by HealthNet to Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown. Ross, traveling north on Rt. 16 in a
1990 Buick went left of center, exiting a curve, striking a 1991 tractor trailer owned by Flying W Plastics of Glenville.
The driver of the truck, Richard Bonnett, 35 of Troy, WV was uninjured.
Ritchie County EMS along with the Smithville, Harrisville and Ellenboro Volunteer Fire Departments responded, using the
Jaws-of-Life to extract Ross from his vehicle. He is reported to be in fair condition.
Traffic was backed-up for 2 hours, according to Ritchie Deputy Sheriff, Bryan Davis, who responded to the 12:40 p.m.
accident. State Trooper Pringle also responded. The accident is under investigation, no citations have been issued.
