Local and regional vets attend recognition dinner

The long food table provided bountiful meal
During a week when World War I started 100 years ago, Grantsville's VFW Post 5959 held their 15th annual Veterans Appreciation Dinner Saturday at the Arnoldsburg Community Building, with a a number of regional vets and their families attending.
Speakers included David Walker, WV House of Delegates, and Rick Thompson, VA representatives.
Veterans were recognized for their service, with music provided by High Mountain Bluegrass.
VA van drivers were recognized for their service, including Robert Yoak, 11 years, 15,377 miles and Burl Simers, 6 years, 16,000 miles.
Paul and Freda Whytsell were recognized for their longtime coordination of the van program.
