WVU FRESHMAN DIES OF STABBING - Morgantown Police have confirmed that DeVante' Waites, 19, died following a stabbing Thursday morning.
When officers arrived at the scene about 12:45 a.m., they found Waites had been stabbed in the abdomen and was sent to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Waites, a Fairmont basketball player, was an entry Freshman at WVU.
Robert Hernandez, 33 of Cumberland, Maryland has been charged with First Degree Murder and is currently awaiting arraignment.
Morgantown Police and the U.S. Marshal's Mountain State Fugitive Task Force are continuing the investigation and are reviewing video surveillance from the area.
WOMAN SHOT AT FOODLAND - Charleston police say a clerk at the Foodland in Kanawha City was shot in the chest during a robbery late Thursday night.
Police say the two men had their faces covered when they entered the store with a gun. Police say during the robbery, one of the men shot one of the store's clerks.
The woman is in serious condition at CAMC General, according to police.
CHARLESTON STAND-OFF ENDS - A standoff on Charleston's East End came to a peaceful end Thursday night.
Charleston police swarmed an apartment building across the street from CAMC General. Police had on surgical masks and guns drawn as they entered the apartment.
Police say the man inside had been in the hospital and left the hospital to smoke and instead went home to his apartment, across the street.
Family members say the man, in his 20's, had several guns, including an assault rifle, and they were worried about him.
He was brought out of the apartment in handcuffs but we're told he was taken back to the hospital. It is unclear what, if any charges, that man may face.
DUNBAR TEEN STABBED - - A teenager was stabbed in Dunbar late Wednesday night, The victim ended up calling police from his home.
The teen was stabbed in the arm. Police say the suspect heard the victim's medication rattle in his pocket, and that is when the suspect pulled out a knife and attempted to rob him.
He was not seriously injured.
MASON MURDER - A woman has been found dead at Letart, Mason County and police are searching for her husband.
54-year-old Kathy Anderson was last seen Tuesday at a business in Jackson County, and her body was discovered through a well-being check.
Wednesday morning troopers found Kathy dead of an apparent gunshot wound in her home.
Police immediately began searching for her husband 57-year-old Charles Anderson.
Police expressed concern Anderson was likely armed and could be considered dangerous.
State Police had helicopters circling the area.
CLARKSBURG SHOOTINGS - The Clarksburg Police Department has arrested Donald R. Jordan, 25 of Columbus, Ohio, and charged him with two counts of wanton endangerment following a Wednesday morning shooting.
Jordan fired 11 rounds.
Jordan is accused of shooting his uncle, Willie Dukes, Jr., 47 of Clarksburg, and his daughter, Darrell Dukes, 27 of Clarksburg, following a verbal argument, according to a criminal complaint filed by Detective Jason Snyder.
The call came into Harrison County 911 at approximately 12:11 a.m. Wednesday. Both Willie and Darrell Dukes were transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital by Healthnet and are listed in good condition.
Jordan is being held in North Central Regional Jail.
Jordan had moved to Clarksburg in July from Columbus, Ohio, said police. Jordan had been living with the Dukes' when they asked him to leave the house due to suspected drug activity, said police.
Harrison County Prosecutor Attorney Joseph Shaffer said allegations indicate that Jordan moved to the area to deal drugs.
