| Earl Mason Nicholson, 90, of Normantown, WV, departed this life early Friday morning August 8, 2014 at the Cedar Ridge Center Nursing Facility, in Sissonville, WV following an short illness.
Born December 3, 1926 in Gilmer County, WV, son of the late Henry Dow and Ona Furr Nicholson.
Earl was a graduate of Normantown High School and Glenville State College. He was a Navy veteran serving in World War II. In his younger years he enjoyed Glenville State College sports and spent a lot of time raising cattle. Earl was also a retired Area Administrator for the Department of Health and Human Resources.
In September of 1960 Earl was united in marriage to Kathleen Fox Nicholson, who preceded him in death on December 28, 1996.
Surviving is daughter, Vicki Jordan and husband Steve of Charleston, WV, grandson, Paul Jordan of Fayetteville, NC and 2 sisters, Manoka Collins and husband James of Butler, PA, and Betty Fahey and husband Paul of Fairmont, WV.
Along with his wife and parents Earl was preceded in death by 1 brother, Burl Nicholson, and 2 sisters, Jean Marshall and V. Helen Norman.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV 26351 at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Collins Community Cemetery, Stumptown, WV with Full Military Honors provided by the Lewis County Honor Guard. Friends may call from 12-1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Mortuary. |
