Robert J. Mitchell, 78 of Elizabeth, West Virginia, passed away August 4, 2014 at Parkersburg Care Center of Parkersburg WV after an extended illness.
He was born in Calhoun County the son of the late Cecil and Allie (Miller) Mitchell.
He served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1962. He was a Certified Mechanic and worked in the Wirt County area for several years as such.
He is survived by 2 brothers, Eugene (Mary) Mitchell of Palestine WV and Johnny Mitchell of Liverpool WV; 2 sisters, Cathy (Ben Riggs) Butler of Mineral Wells WV and Sylvia Stempowshi of Elizabeth; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and his wife Judy Mitchell.
Services will be Sunday August 10, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth WV with David Hennen officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Sunday until time of the service. Interment will be at a later date.
