Ivah E. Sampson Cottrell, 84, of Reedy, West Virginia, passed away on July 31, 2014 at her son's house in Sandyville, West Virginia.
She was born September 29, 1929 in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Andrew "A.J." and Lucy Price Sampson. She was a homemaker and attended the Reedy Bible Church.
Ivah is survived by her husband of 64 years, Cecil Cottrell; five sons, Melvin Cottrell of Lubeck, West Virginia, Bernard and Kenny Cottrell, both of Reedy, Ronnie Cottrell of Sandyville, and Jerry Cottrell of Parkersburg, West Virginia; three sisters, Opal Marks in Ripley, West Virginia, Mattie Roberts of Spencer, West Virginia, and Mary Hall of Akron, Ohio; 24 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Cottrell Winnell; a son, Dallas "Duck" Cottrell; a sister, Jo Westfall; and four brothers, Walter, Weldon, Russell, and Warden Sampson.
Service will be Monday, August 4, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Reedy Methodist Church with Pastor Richard McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in the Board Cemetery at Reedy. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer.
