Doyle S. Ballengee, 80, of Grantsville, West Virginia, died October 5, 2002 in
Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg. Born in Braxton County, he was the
son of the late French S. and Elva Jane McMorrow Ballengee.
He was retired from Babcock and Wilcox Company of Barberton, Ohio and was a U. S.
Air Force Veteran of WW II. He was a committed Christian and a member of the
Victory Baptist Church of Grantsville. He served his Lord in many ways, including his
prison ministry in several communities, bringing the gospel to those incarcerated.
Surviving are his son Calhoun County Deputy Sheriff Carl Ballengee of Millstone, WV
and daughter, Cheri Pittman of Grantsville; brothers, Garland Ballengee of Duck, Clay
County, WV and Lewis Ballengee of Vienna, WV; sister, Virginia McCoy of Brenham,
Texas; five grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife Reda E. Ballengee.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Victory Baptist Church near
Grantsville. Rev. John Powell and Rev. Mike Worf will officiate. Interment will be in the
Perry James Cemetery at Frametown, WV.
Friends will be received at the Victory Baptist Church from 6-9 p.m. Monday and one
hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Stump Funeral Home in charge of
