James C. Haught said one day my grandfather, James A. Hoskins and I took the horses to the creek for water.
One horse drank but the other one just stood there.
Pap said, "Did you ever hear the quotation that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Well watch this."
He took a small amount of fertilizer and threw it in the horses mouth.
The horse immediately began to drink. Then my grandfather said. "You can lead a horse to water and if you want him to drink, put a little salt in his oats."
