Sarah Jessie Rhodes Yeager, 79, of Parkersburg, died July 16, 2014, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 12, 1934, in Chloe, W.Va., a daughter of the late Philip and Chessie Jarvis Rhodes.
She retired from Sears, was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, and was a graduate of Calhoun High School in 1952. She was a member of the Blennerhassett Chapter DAR and performed in the National DAR Chorus three years at Memorial Continental Hall in Washington, D.C.
She was also a member of the Victorian Society and life member of WV Cameo Club. She loved reading her Bible daily, watching Fox News and considered herself a true Patriot. In the summer, she enjoyed gardening and home canning, and in the fall, hunting.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Glessoner Whitt Yeager; three children, Sharon JoAnn (Jerry) Backus of Vienna, James Michael Yeager of Davisville, and Dorla Elaine (Tim) Piggott of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorla Jean Rhodes on July 5, 1989, and Waneta Pearl Gross on May 24, 2011.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Dan Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Cottrell Cemetery in Calhoun County, W.Va. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at the funeral home.
