POWER OUTAGES DOWN TO ZERO FRIDAY NIGHT - Two Tornadoes Confirmed In WV

Mon Power/First Energy reports zero electric outages in Calhoun Friday night.

A number of additional repair crews arrived in the county Friday morning.

Most of the remaining outages from Tuesday's wind storm, which registered 65 mph with gusts much higher, were in areas difficult to reach.

The "wind shears" hit a number of West Virginia counties.

The NWS says two tornadoes touched down in the Mountain State, one in Mon County and the other in Taylor County, with winds up to 100 mph. 7/11/2014 - CALHOUN HAS 160 ELECTRIC OUTAGES THUR. NIGHT FROM STORM - Trees Broke At Least 77 Lines, Structures Damaged

Among the regional counties, Calhoun has the most electric outages at 11 p.m. Thursday night, according to First Energy/Mon Power with 160.

The power company said about 77 lines were broken, a number of poles split and being replaced, in addition to transformer replacement.

A high "shear-wind" storm with 65 mph winds, gusts even higher, swept across the county in narrow paths Tuesday, downing trees and destroying some buildings.

The tall radio tower erected at Mt. Zion, used mostly for business communication, fell to the ground.

The breaks that are being worked on are mostly in wooded areas, workers reaching them by foot.

At this time, it is expected the majority of customers will be restored by 11:00 PM Friday.
