Jenny Belt is back in the hospital so Rick Williams brought the message at the Burning Springs M. E. Church. He is a very good speaker and follows the scripture.
Gay Park has been on the puny list.
Virginia Snyder, age 94, passed away in Parkersburg. She was the widow of Holly Snyder and the daughter of Noah & Martha Boice Cunningham. She was survived by one son Jerry & 3 grandchildren. Burial was at the Snyder/McCray cemetery at Creston.
Some of the Loudins (who were visiting Steve) came across two young raccoons along the Richardsonville Road. Just like in the book series of Jimmy Coon & Farmer Dan, they caught one 'coon and removed a nasty tick from his ear.
Cap'n Spock and a number of area residents spent the Fourth of July weekend vacationing up in the mountains. Some road horses while others toured on motorcycles while others camped, etc.
With a stint of dry weather, quite a lot of hay was made over the holiday weekend.
Charles Russell, Homer Delano (Abe) Dooley, Alvin & Nancy Engelke were among those who attended the Lockhart family reunion at the park at the Mouth of Tucker's Creek. There was lots of good food and folks visited, took pictures, etc. Francis Lockhart noted that perhaps the July weather of hot days & cool nights might be a harbinger of an early fall.
The "global warming" folks in the federal government got caught and had to recant and state that July 1936 was the hottest month on record, not July 2012. Researchers had found that the government numbers had been "massaged" to get the 'desired result'.
The Big Eared One said that the children that were brought from Central America were going to be sent home too but that has been disproved as the government obviously worked to bring them all here. The number is at least 290,000 women, children and sick people who have brought all sorts of tropical diseases and pests from days gone by to America to help with the "fundamental change". The children are being sent to people they do not know even though many said that they wanted to go home to their parents. Talk about cruel people who will do anything.
Several loads of fine logs have been hauled down the Richardsonville road.
The Wirt road crew has been mowing local byways. One woman noted that the mowing was somewhat less than 'first class'.
The Kingdom of Norway's government oil company, Statoil, had a fire on one of their Utica wells in Monroe County Ohio.
It was reported that Antero has purchased a small operator who has wells in Wirt & Calhoun County. It was also reported that they would pay $15,000/acre for units that had certified title.
It was reported that the Rogersville shale well that Cabot has permitted in Putnam County will be drilled before they spud the Utica well in Wood County.
Antero announced that they are planning on drilling "soon" in Gilmer County.
Area residents have been feasting on fresh vegetables from their gardens, onions, peas, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc. Al Gore may get his food from third world countries (he said we all should) but local grown is the best, bar none. One Roane resident had been feeding a young Jersey bull but he got out and got off his feed and foundered on green grass. However, he is now back in the barn and eating good yellow corn. He will soon make a trip to the abattoir.
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil dropped to $103.56/bbl. with drip fetching $80.56, Marcellus & Utica light $96.56 and medium $102.56/bbl. Consternation seems to be the general view in the oil patch about the new state rules on testing oil tanks. One fellow who works as a contractor for the big boys said, " The big guys will fuss and make noise but then they'll go along; it will just put the little fellows out of business." One can say that Broadway Joe and Earl Ray looked after their buddies [again].
