Hundreds of customer complaints regarding Frontier Communication's intermittent land-line service in the Big Springs-Five Forks area of Calhoun County to the company and the West Virginia Public Service Commission have produced little results.
Customers have asked the Calhoun Commission to help with a problem that has caused service disruptions over the past two years.
The commission is filing a formal complaint with the West Virginia Public Service Commission.
The disruptive service is linked to out-dated and antiquated equipment at a sub-station, equipment that is so old the company cannot find repair parts.
Customers report that local Frontier repair employees continue to try and restore service.
Frontier, according to customers, continues to promise to fix the problem.
At risk, according to complaint letters received by the commission, is a large number of elderly citizens who are unable to connect with family members, call or receive well-being calls.
In several cases, the customers have been unable to call 911 for medical or other emergencies.
The commission has taken-up the cause, and will be putting the problem on their agenda at every meeting, and will aggressively work to see that the problem is fixed.
