The 35th Molasses Festival is history and co-chairperson Linda McCartney said "We
had a wonderful group of people helping this year, trying to replace some of the
old-timers like Pete Bush who passed away, and Deward Offutt who has been under
the weather."
There is a long list of Arnoldsburg area old-timers who stuck with the festival and
made it a success.
"The molasses making went really well. There was a great crew doing the job and
nearly all of the jars have been sold," said McCartney.
This year's King and Queen will join the list of young people for the past 35 years.
Third grader Jacob Jett, son of Ron and Tammy Jett of Orma, was crowned King.
Ashley Houchin, a fourth grader, was crowned Queen. She is the daughter of Jeff and
Kelley Houchin of Arnoldsburg.
This year's festival was described as one of the biggest and best, according to
McCartney.
The Hur Herald camera had a malfunction in the middle of the parade, missing several
pictures. Some of the pictures turned out in old-time sienna...probably user
malfunction. We are still sharing some of them with you in this Molasses Festival
Scrapbook.
