Well-known Calhoun educator Don McCartney is recovering in a rehabilitation center after suffering a stroke on May 27.
McCartney will have his 87th birthday on June 21st, and his wife Ann is asking for his friends to send him a birthday card.
Ann McCartney, said "Don was doing what he was often doing, doctoring a cow down in the barn" when he was stricken, likely quoting one of his favorite poems while doing the task.
McCartney is making slow progress from the stroke, suffering paralysis.
