Mabel A. Marks, 88 of Grantsville, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on May 22, 2014.
She was born April 17, 1926 at Millstone, the daughter of the late Dave and Orpha Schoolcraft Poling. She had many jobs in her lifetime but was known best as a caregiver to others. She was a member of Albert Chapel of Sand Ridge and attended Victory Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Grantsville, #73.
She is survived by two sons, John (Connie) Marks of Medina OH, and Bill (Shelby) Marks of Grantsville; four daughters, Erma (Michael) Sims of Bedford OH, Barbara (Jim) Bush, Mae (Bob) Sturms and Connie McCartney, all of Grantsville; two brothers, Junior Poling of Millstone and Guy Poling of Spencer; 25 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one son David "Buck" Marks; 3 grandsons, one being Tracy Ray Marks on 1-30-14; 2 infant grandsons; 3 sisters, Orla Marks of Millstone, Ernestine Gregory of Cleveland OH and Murl Hall of Wilsie WV; her first husband Walter Marks and second husband Eugene Freed.
Funeral services will be held at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville Sunday May 25, 2014, with The Order of Eastern Star Service beginning at 3:00 pm followed by the funeral service with Rev. Roger Carter officiating. Mabel will be laid to rest in the Poling-Marks Family Cemetery at Millstone. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00-3:00 pm prior to the services.
