The Calhoun Commission, Monday evening, certified the Primary Election results from Monday's canvass, forwarding the results to the WV Secretary of State.
Minnie Hamilton CEO Steve Whited and MHHS-EMS Director Brett Wellman reported on the status of ambulance service to the commission, Minnie Hamilton now operating the service for a full year.
Wellman said, "The reports continue to show improvements with response times, and that the service is adequately meeting the needs of Calhoun citizens."
Whited told commissioners that Wellman "has displayed high leadership skills in improving the service."
County commissioners said in some regional counties, ambulance service is often delayed, hoping that the citizens of the county are grateful for having efficient service."
Whited indicated, so far, the small amount of the Emergency Services Levy money now directed to MHHS, is helping with the 15%+ calls that are not compensated.
During the first years of operation, MHHS-EMS responded to 1,289 calls.
The commission approved a lease agreement with the Mt. Zion PSD to use the former EMS building at Mt. Zion.
911/OES Director Kathy Wood reported 911 received 138 911 calls in April.
County Clerk Jean Simers reported she had at least 10 applicants for the courthouse custodian position.
The commission is moving forward to install a new railing at the handicap walk-way leading into the basement of the courthouse.
The commission issued a proclamation, designating Mental Health Month.
The next commission meeting is schedule for June 9.
