Ova Louisa Bragg, 86 of Big Springs; Tanner Community (Gilmer County), passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 9:51 p.m., Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, WV after a sudden illness.
She was born April 17, 1928 on the Revere Homeplace, one of six children to the late John G. and Delphia F. (Lochard) Weaver.
Ova went to a one room school for some years, "Good Old Trace Fork," and walked each day, quite a good way for a small child starting to school way back then, not many automobiles in those days.
After some time at Tanner High School, and not finishing, Ova went to school at Morgantown and worked to get her G.E.D. and passed.
Later in life she became a beautician for Cox's Beauty Shop and Milliards Owens Beauty Shop--both in Parkersburg. Ova later felt she was much needed to stay at home and help with her aging mother and came back once again to Trace Fork. Ova loved her family, the outdoors, her Bible and her feline animals.
She was a Christian member of The Old Nobe Chapel Baptist Church and had been since a young child. She loved many and many loved her.
Ova is survived by a stepson, Charles Bragg of Charleston, WV; her oldest sister; Mae E. (Weaver) Jennings of Grantsville (formerly of Nobe Community), also surviving are many nieces and nephews as well as great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Ova was preceded in death by her husband of 11 years, William H. Bragg of Charleston in September 1982; an infant step-daughter and two sisters; Ava Naylor of East Rochester, OH and Mary Yoak of Five Forks Community (Calhoun County); two brothers Johnny Weaver of Trace Fork (Gilmer County) and Bernard Weaver of Glenville, formerly of Trace Fork. Also preceding was a niece; Thelma Naylor and three nephews: Michael Naylor, Jeffrey Naylor and Roger Weaver.
