Scottie "Chip" Westfall and Jean Simers

Calhoun Democrat voters have re-elected county commissioner Scottie "Chip" Westfall as a candidate for a second six year term.

Westfall defeated challenger Eddie Cain 669 to 529.

Westfall said he had visited about 1,100 Calhoun households campaigning, saying he was greeted with warmth and hospitality.

Jean Simers, who had been appointed to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of former County Clerk Mike Ritchie, won in the County Clerk race to fill the unexpired term.

Simers defeated challenger Connie Boone Smith, 667 to 547.

Simers said, "I will continue to operate the clerk's office efficiently, keeping in mind I am serving the public."

There were no candidates on the Republican ticket.

The precinct-by-precinct vote results will not be available until after Monday's canvas of the votes, according to the Secretary of State's office.

Member House of Delegates/33rd District: Roger Hanshaw (Republican) 225.

Calhoun Executive Committee/Center: Burl Postalwait 147.

Calhoun Executive Committee: Lee: Randall Arnold 174.

Republican Executive Committee: No Candidates Filed.
