CLAY MAN BELIEVES ALLEGED HUMAN SKULL DISCOVERED AT WIDEN COULD BE REMAINS OF MISSING SISTER

(05/12/2014)
UPDATE - A Clay County man, when he heard the news of what appeared to be a human skull being discovered near Widen, has hopes that it could be part of the remains of his sister who went missing in 2005.

John Sears told WCHS-TV that it could bring resolution to the disappearance of his sister Jennifer Belt nine years ago.

Belt's car was discovered by the side of the road with the keys still inside, making a trip from Ivydale to Widen.

"It's sad she's gone. I miss her every day," Sears told WCHS-TV.

Police are still investigating the discovery of the skull by loggers in the Widen area earlier this week.

ORIGINAL STORY 5/7/14 - A logging company discovered what appears to be the remains of a human body in remote Widen, a faded coal mining town in Clay County.

The company says it appears to be a partial human skull.

Employees contacted the Clay County Sheriffs Department Monday night after the discovery on Dog Run.
