H. Ray Bowen, 80, of Plattsburgh NY, died September 21, 2002 in CV/PH
Medical Center. He was born March 3, 1912 at Looneyville, a son of the late
George W. and Vesta Amma Cottrell Bowen.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, a member of the Civil Air
Patrol, an amateur radio operator and avid golfer.
Surviving, wife, Virginia Hively Bowen of Plattsburgh; daughters, Ann
Sharland of Falls Church, VA and Martha Yeako of Georgetown DE; son,
Harry Ray Bowen Jr. of Plattsburgh; sisters, Marie Hively and Anna Faye
Edgell of Spencer, Ernestine Carpenter of Ravenswood; brother, Rev. John
W. Bowen of Spencer; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, September 28 at 11 a.m. in
the John H. Taylor Funeral Home in Spencer with the Rev. Gary L. Bowen
officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery.
