| James Hays Powell, age 78 of Parkersburg, West Virginia, departed this life on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at home surrounded by family.
Born April 26, 1935 in Calhoun County, he was the son of the late Rue L. and Mary Hays Powell.
Jim graduated from Calhoun County High School, class of 1953. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, 1957-1959. He then worked for E.I Dupont for 32 years prior to his retirement in 1994. Jim enjoyed golf and vacations with the family.
Jim was the beloved husband of Barbara Ann Houchin with whom he had shared 53 years of marriage.
Along with his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters, Tammy Nichols and husband Donny, Robin DeRitter and husband George, and April Haught and husband Rick. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Bree Ann Cunningham and husband Chris, Dustyn Nichols and companion Ashley, Paige Haught, Austin Spangler, Abigail Haught, and Ethan Haught, and 2 great grandchildren, Camye and Remmi Cunningham.
Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by 1 brother, William R. Powell.
