Loretta Mary Jane Robinson, 77, of Tanner went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, surrounded by family at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
For the past six months she was cared for by the compassionate staff at The Arbors of Marietta.
Born August 14, 1936, Mary Jane was a daughter of the late Bailey and Avis Elder Ayers of Smithville, WV. On October 20, 1956, she married her lifetime sweetheart Vinton Robinson, who survives.
A proud West Virginian, Mary Jane earned a Golden Horseshoe and graduated with honors from Harrisville High School in 1954. She embraced a wealth of knowledge, enjoyed learning and inspired all who knew her.
Mary Jane actively supported her church, Tanner Chapel, as a faithful Christian. She was also involved in community and school organizations including Tanner School PTA, Gilmer County Farm Bureau and Senior Citizens.
She and Vinton raised five children on their farm at Bull Fork. Mary Jane was a devoted mother and grandmother who delighted in reading, baking, and cooking delicious meals to share with loved ones. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and tending her beautiful gardens.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Vinton Robinson; five children, Debbie (Russ) Hern, Timmy (Bea Whipkey) Robinson, Tammy (late Mitchell) Stump, Terry (Rev. Tim) Hickman, and Brenda (Randy) Ball; ten grandchildren, Amanda (Rev. Matt) Deal, Hannah Hern, Tyler Hern, Joshua (Samantha) Hickman, Titus (Sarah) Robinson, Thomas (Annie) Robinson, Jonah (Britney) Stump, Kasey Stump, Caleb (Lindsey) Ball, and Chelsey Ball; five great grandchildren, Miley, Rilyn and Jonah Jr. Stump, Emeri Hickman, and Stella Robinson.
She is also survived by a sister Laurabel Ayers; brother Hoover Ayers, and many extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Earl and Minnie Robinson, four brothers, three sisters, and a son-in-law.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg, WV with Pastor Alfred Hickman, Rev. Tim Hickman and Rev. Matt Deal officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ayers Cemetery at Smithville. Friends may visit the family from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 18 at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg.
