| Mid-Ohio Valley high school and early college aged young adults are invited to audition on April 12 and 13, 2014 for the local Theatre de Jeunesse free theatre arts program's July production of Camelot by Alan Lerner and Frederick Loewe.
Those preferring technical theatre can register instead to join the technical crew and: assist the Technical Director in the design and creation of the set, props, lights, and sound for the production
provide the technical support for the production as: stage crew, stage manager, assistant stage manager, and lightboard, sound, and followspot operators assist the Costumers in the research, design, and construction of costumes register as student intern to learn the principles of directing, choreography, costuming, makeup/hair, or properties and provide hands-on assistance with these activities.
Pre-audition Open Houses to register for tech, meet the staff, and review the audition materials: Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 1:00 - 3:00 at the Hermann Fine Arts Center, 500 Butler Street in Marietta and Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 2:00 - 4:00 at the Parkersburg Academy, 1800 38th Street in Parkersburg.
Auditions and tech registration will be held:
Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 1:00 - 4:00 in Thomas Hall Room 124 at Marietta College (park at 4th and Butler and walk to top of College Mall to Thomas Hall on the left at Putnam) and
Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 2:00 - 5:00 at the Parkersburg Academy, 1800 38th Street in Parkersburg.
The Tony award-winning story of the marriage of England's King Arthur to Guenevere is played out amid the pageantry of Camelot. The show opens with King Arthur nervously preparing to meet his new Queen, Guenevere. While initially, Guenevere tries to escape the marriage, the two young people soon fall in love, to the pleasure of Arthur's wise tutor, Merlyn.
In order to bring peace and stability to the kingdom, Arthur establishes the Knights of the Round Table who would use their might for right. Included amongst these knights, is the most famous of them all, Lancelot. Soon, Lancelot and Queen Guenevere fall in love. Their affair is brought public with the help of Arthur's evil illegitimate son Mordred and his aunt, the sorceress Morgan le Fey.
As a result, peace ends and war breaks out as Arthur's troops prepare to fight Lancelot's French army. Some of the enchanting musical numbers include The Lusty Month of May, How to Handle a Woman, I Loved You Once in Silence, If Ever I Would Leave You and What Do the Simple Folk Do?
