Rev. Keith Belt filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. church and served Holy Communion.
Last week was both cold and warm with spiders spinning webs and bugs about on the warm days. However, Sunday brought more snow, inches of it. While it is clear that winters of some years back have returned, the "global warming" crowd continues to demand more rules and taxes and their claims became more and more absurd showing how desperate that they have become. It has been noted that their goal is not stopping the weather [which is of course impossible anyway] but like the health care law which has nothing to do with health but all to do with control of the populace.
A well known Calhoun resident noticed a matter of concern involving a school bus and he called to talk with the authorities. First he was called a liar so he called a person "farther up the food chain" and was "blown off". A call to a board member caused some sparks and then an employee said to call the first official again. This time lots of "colorful language" was used on the taxpayer with the instruction to never ever call again that the board was planning on a big bond and tax increases and a positive image had to be maintained. The citizen noted that "for sure an image had been made". Then, to make things just right, the bus driver posted the incident on the internet making it clear to the world that the incident had, in fact occurred as reported in the first place.
Charles Russell was calling on Mr. & Mrs. Parris Parsons, Ray Gumm, Mary Kee and brother Euell at the Miletree Center in Spencer. Parris noted that he would be 95 in two weeks.
Several area residents were very sick with a virus caused "rapid weight & fluid loss". One family had a house full all at the same time with only one "throne".
Bob Montgomery, an Akron area railroad man who spends time in the area and helps with the Creston Community Building, learned that his sister who lives in the south died. She had had no health problems -- one never knows.

The Common Core national educational plan continues to be a topic both locally and all over the nation. The Educrats are miffed that the peasants would question their schemes and Bill Gates has unleashed an ad campaign against those who would question why his company would be gathering all the data on all the children in the nation. Those who have 'special needs' children are all too well aware of what happens when this data is gathered and used for less than honest reasons. Some wishy washy 'Republicans' including Jebbie Bush have come out for the federal program. One thing for sure this underscores the obvious need to abolish the federal educational bureaucracy. Such would save tax dollars and save the children from getting a poor education. One might say this educational "dumb down" is part of "cutting America down to size" as part of the fundamental transformation. Unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers who says he wrote the Big Eared One's book had a big hand in the program.
Not so long back America's space program was turned over to the Russians [who are now invading the Ukraine -- Hillary's restart button] and now the internet is being turned over to the UN, the biggest group of America haters, Jew haters and crooks on the planet. Certainly nothing bad would ever happen.
Roger Graham is looking for a picture (or pictures) of the former Cap Boice service station at Creston. Cap had to old "Tell" Belt store building and had hand pump gasoline dispensers such as are now seen in museums. With those pumps there was no problem when there was no electricity. Those who have pictures can contact the local correspondent or P. E. (Eddie) Graham.
The Creston Community Building is putting out a new cookbook as a fund raiser. Favorite recipes should be sent to Rebecca Starcher at 812 Quick Street, Parkersburg, W. Va. 26101 before June 1.
West Virginia continues to prove that we "have the best politicians that money can buy" when, at the urging of Broadway Joe & Earl Ray the legislature gave a big tax break to Jimmy Justice for his non-Obamacare health clinic at the Greenbrier. The chief tax deputy in a coal county noted some while back that Justice had evaded paying $millions in personal property taxes on his coal operations, sometimes with help from the Mouth of the Elk. When one has the correct connections crime pays.
