LEWIS MAN ENTERS PLEA DEAL IN DEATHS OF LEWIS WOMEN

(02/24/2014)
A Lewis County man accused of involvement in the disappearance of two Lewis County women in 1999, was in court Tuesday.

David Hughes entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors in Weston.

Hughes has agreed to plead guilty in the deaths of Maxine Stalnaker and Mary Friend, guilty to one charge of conspiracy to commit robbery.

A wide search was conducted in Central West Virginia to find their bodies at the time.

In the plea deal, he will help prosecutors in their case against Joseph Metz, who stands accused of murdering the two women.

Judge Kurt Hall found a factual basis for the plea, but has not yet decided to accept the agreement.
