With January, 2014, passing into history, it will be remembered as the winter we haven't had for many years, with old-timers always saying, "Winters used to be like this all the time."
The lowest unofficial temperature reported to the Hur Herald was -12, but most parts of the county reported a January low of -10.
Now comes February, which often has colder temperatures than January.
