A SHINING STAR GOES TO BECKY SWISHER - Chloe Resident Now Registered Nurse

(01/31/2014)

A Shining Star goes to Rebecca L. Swisher, a 2002 graduate of Calhoun County High school, who has graduated from West Virginia University at Parkersburg with an Associates degree in nursing.

Becky successfully completed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

She is the daughter of Nora and Allen Swisher of Chloe and resides in Orma with her fiance Brian Burns, and her daughters BrookLynn and EmiLee Swisher.

Becky has thanked her family, friends and members of her church at Louisa Chapel for their unwavering support during her time as a nursing student.

She has been hired by Charleston Area Medical Center and is excited to begin her career as a Registered Nurse. She will also continue to work as Calhoun County Coroner.

Her cousin, Dan Butler, a program manager for Chamber Corporation in Colorado Springs, offers comments regarding her success, which has led to her Shining Star.

"I'm proud of my cuz, graduating with her nursing degree after many years of hard work. She has spent the past years traveling to school in bad weather and working until the wee hours of the morning on homework that had to be done after her kids were in bed."

"When I visited with Beckey, we talked about how to be successful in life by setting personal goals both short term and long term. Later I found out she had a goal to get her nursing degree, and I watched with the pride of a parent from afar as she stuck to her goal."

"There were many times when she was challenged with life events that I feared she would give up, but she didn't."

"She knew that if she wanted a better life for her and her daughters."

I want to say congratulations to Becky and a thanks to all those that supported her."
