A Shining Star goes to Jim Sullivan for his long-time volunteerism to Calhoun County.
Sullivan is a man who shows up and does the work.
For several years, with the help of a handful of volunteers, he has kept the Calhoun Wood Festival going, one of a few dwindling community celebrations still alive.
Additionally, he has provided barbecues to dozens and dozens of fundraisers for community projects and for citizens who have needed financial help in their time of crisis.
More recently, he erected the large music and light Christmas tree on the courthouse lawn, again with a handful of volunteers, to present nightly shows for county residents.
He is also active in his church community and other public service groups.
He is worthy of a Shining Star.
