The Grand Jury of Calhoun County was convened this week and after hearing cases presented by Prosecutor Shannon S. Johnson and after due deliberation, the Grand Jury returned the following indictments:
James Forrest Blankenship, II, 29, was indicted on one count of Fleeing While DUI, a Felony; DUI, a Misdemeanor; Driving While License Suspended for Miscellaneous, Third Offense, a Misdemeanor; Left of Center, a Misdemeanor; and two counts of Failure to Stop at a Traffic Signal, a Misdemeanor. The allegations stem from an attempted traffic stop which was initiated by Corporal J.B. Hunt of the West Virginia State Police on May 4, 2013.
John Franklin Cash, 41, was indicted on one count of Operating and Attempt to Operate a Clandestine Drug Laboratory, a Felony. These charges resulted from a traffic stop executed by Senior Trooper J.A. Newman of the West Virginia State Police on August 11, 2013.
Cash was also indicted on one count of Threats of Terrorist Acts, a Felony. It is alleged that Cash made threatening statements to Chief Deputy J.D. Smith of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department while at a Magistrate Court hearing on September 5, 2013.
William Wayne Cottrell, 34, was indicted on one count of Purchase, receipt, acquisition, and possession of substances to be used as a precursor to manufacture methamphetamine or another controlled substance, a Felony; Possession with Intent to Deliver and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine, a Felony; Conspiracy, a Felony; and one count of Carrying a Deadly Weapon, a Misdemeanor.
Also included in this indictment, Mark Brian Harris, 39, was indicted on Purchase, receipt, acquisition, and possession of substances to be used as a precursor to manufacture methamphetamine or another controlled substance, a Felony; and Conspiracy, a Felony.
Cottrell and Harris's indictment resulted from a January 2013 investigation conducted by Chief Andrew Walker of the Grantsville Police Department.
Donald Lee Drake, 42; Christopher Keith Ferrell, 42; David Glen Jones, 46; Scotty Lynn Knight, 32; and Christina Darlene Wilson, 37; were all indicted on one count of Operating and Attempt to Operate a Clandestine Drug Laboratory, a Felony; and one count of Purchase, receipt, acquisition, and possession of substances to be used as a precursor to manufacture methamphetamine or another controlled substance, a Felony; two counts of Exposure of Children to Methamphetamine Manufacturing, both Felonies; and Conspiracy, a Felony. This alleged incident occurred on March 21, 2013 and was investigated by Sgt. O.S. Starsick of the West Virginia State Police.
Georgie Gaglione, 30, was indicted on Operating and Attempt to Operate a Clandestine Drug Laboratory, a Felony; and one count of Purchase, receipt, acquisition, and possession of substances to be used as a precursor to manufacture methamphetamine or another controlled substance, a Felony; two counts of Exposure of Children to Methamphetamine Manufacturing, both Felonies; and Conspiracy, a Felony.
Joshua Thomas Slider, 29, was indicted on the same counts in the same indictment as Gaglione. It is alleged that Gaglione and Slider were operating a methamphetamine lab on May 9, 2013. This incident was investigated by Corporal J.B. Hunt of the West Virginia State Police.
Larry Dana Harold, 45, was indicted on one count of Attempt to Commit Burglary, a Felony; Destruction of Property, a Misdemeanor; Trespass, First Offense, a Misdemeanor; and Impersonation of a Law-Enforcement Officer or Official, a Misdemeanor. The allegations stem from an incident occurring on May 22, 2013 and which was investigated by Corporal J. B. Hunt of the West Virginia State Police.
Leon Kerby, II, 27, was indicted on one count of Child Abuse Resulting in Injury, a Felony. The alleged incident occurred on April 29, 2013 and was investigated by Chief Andrew Walker of the Grantsville Police Department.
Corey Lee Metheney, 33, was indicted on two counts of Sexual Abuse by a Parent, Guardian, or Custodian, both Felonies; two counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, both Felonies; and two counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, both Felonies. It is alleged that Metheney sexually abused two children during November of 2012. This case was investigated by Trooper D.C. Moore of the West Virginia State Police.
Also as a result of the same incidents, Angel Bowers, 28, was indicted on two counts of Child Neglect Creating Risk of Injury, both Felonies; and two counts of Failure to Report Child Abuse, both Misdemeanors. This case was also investigated by Trooper Moore.
Herman Sampson Stanley, III, 36, was indicted on one count of Failure to Meet an Obligation to Provide Support for a Minor, a Felony. The indictment alleges that Stanley has failed to meet his child support obligation since February 7, 2012. This case was investigated by Joe Earnest of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Bureau for Child Support Enforcement.
Indictments returned against individuals are merely charges at this time and are not indications of guilt. All the above Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
