Billy Dale Groves, 79, of Akron, Ohio, passed away November 11, 2013.
Billy was born January 26, 1934, in Calhoun
County, W. Va. to Amma Groves and Goldie Matheny.
He was a resident of Akron for the past 60 years.
He served in the United States Army from
1956-1963, where he spent time in Germany and many
other countries while serving our country. After
his time served, he settled back in Akron and
worked as a mechanic.
Billy was preceded in death by parents and
his only sister, Betty Jean (Groves) Cina. He
leaves behind, his niece, Gia (Sam) Senigaglia and
nephew, Dante D'Ambruoso, both of California; Aunt
Rena Dayton of Barberton; two great-nieces, one
great-nephew, three great-great-nephews and one
great-great-niece, all from California, and many,
many cousins on both the Groves and Matheny sides.
He also leaves behind his family on Nemes Drive.
Thanks go out to Wanda Lambert who took care of
him during his courageous battle with cancer, got
him to his medical appointments and was a true
friend for over 40 years.
He loved cooking for his friends and making his
"famous" potato salad. He will be missed by all
who knew and loved him.
A Committal Service will be held Friday, January
10, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve
National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Rittman,
