Calhoun unleashed a high octane offense on Hannan Saturday night to hand the host Wildcats a 75-56 setback.

The Red Devils had four players score in double figures with Tyler Sims netting 25 to lead the way. Sam Brady and Ryan Slider both had double-doubles with Brady getting 13 rebounds and 15 points while Slider had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Gerwig also had 12 points as the Red Devils won their second in a row to move to 2-3 on the season.

And, for the second game in a row the Red Devils took both games as the junior varsity came from behind to take a 36-35 verdict as Austin Gribble led the way with 16.The In the varsity game Calhoun jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead and was never headed as it led all the way.

Calhoun actually led by almost 20 points on numerous occasions only to have fouls keep the Red Devils, 2-3, from breaking things completely open.

And it also didn't hurt Hannan's cause any when Tyler Burns started hitting virtually everything he threw up in the last three periods after shaking off a sluggish start.

He was two of four in the second period with both field goals being of the three-point variety. He also added three of four free throws for nine points.

In the third period he hit three of five shots including half of his three-point shots as he scored seven points. But he saved the best for the final period as he hit five of six field goal attempts and both free throws for 12 points.

Overall Burns led all scorers with 30 points. Unfortunately for the Wildcats the only other player to hit double figures was Charles Mays with 14.

Meanwhile the aforementioned Calhoun double figure scorers - Sims, Brady, Slider and Gerwig - had plenty of scoring held as Ethyn Miller added two while Gribble had two. Dylan Heiney, Lucas Wilson, Zack Yanero and Cody Starcher all played but did not score.

While the varsity contest was a near blowout the junior varsity game was a nail-biter as Calhoun rallied in the fourth quarter to take the lead on a Gribble basket and was able to hold off the Wildcats down the rest of the way.

Backing Gribble's game high 16 was Dakota Jarvis and Heiney with eight apiece while Yanero and Jerry Jones had two each. Austin Hicks, Riley Cain, Chris Thornton and Nick Watkins all played but did not score.

Calhoun will try to continue its winning ways Jan. 3, 2014, when it travels to Ritchie for a doubleheader.
