William Darrell Welch, 74, of Gandeeville, West Virginia, passed away from a long illness at home on December 19, 2013 surrounded by family and friends.
He was a member of the UMWA and after retiring as a coal miner became a farmer until his passing. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Loretta; his daughter, Delores-Welch-Melton of Jacksonville, Florida; his sons, William Jeffrey "Jeff" Welch and his wife Lora , Michael Cottrell, and Darrell Wayne Welch, all of Gandeeville, West Virginia, David Welch of Marmet, West Virginia, and Chad Harper of Seth, West Virginia; his grandchildren, Cory, Maria, Bruce, Chase, Jacob, Kaleigh, Valerie, Mackenzie, and Brooklyn; three sisters, Millie Pence and her husband Ralph of Clendenin, West Virginia, Betty Anderson of Jacksonville, and Linda Messer of Boone County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Julia Welch; a sister, Doris Bly; and a brother, James Welch.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, West Virginia. Burial will be in the Welch Cemetery on the family farm on Cox Fork Road. Visiting is two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
