Rodney Duane Bush, 65, of Elizabeth, W.Va., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at Timberline Ski Resort.
A graduate of Calhoun High School and the son of Jack and Jean Belt Bush, longtime postmasters in the 60's and 70's at Big Springs.
Rod was a person who had more interests than he had time for, and he was so afraid that he wouldn't be able to enjoy all of those interests. Cramming each day with adventures, he spent his adult life enjoying snow skiing, working as an instructor at Canaan Valley and Timberline; pursuing his interests in flying, enjoying the thrill of piloting his own planes; traveling the country, meeting new people and seeking great adventures; and, enjoying time spent with friends and family.
There were very few people he didn't like and very little he wouldn't try. He was the epitome of a great adventurer and lived life with expectation and joy. He retired from DuPont Washington Works with 38 years of service and he drove cars for McClinton Chevrolet. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Roger Bush (Terri) of Vienna, W.Va. and David Bush (Patty) of Pittsfield, Pa.; two nieces, Erin Bush of Glenville, W.Va. and Erica Evans (Joshua) of Weston, W.Va.; one nephew, Mack Bush (Lindsey) of Cairo, W.Va.; one great-nephew, Daniel Bush; and one great niece, Kloe Bush.
He was preceded in death by one nephew, Chris Bush.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Pastor Kevin Lantz officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, at the funeral home.
An online guestbook will be available at www.lamberttatman.com
