| Bernice Murl Shaffer, 99, formerly of Calhoun County, passed away December 18, 2013 at Country Lawn Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing Care in Navarre, Ohio.
She was born in Calhoun County, April 10, 1914, a daughter of the late Francis M. and Malissa Everson Wilmoth. On December 17, 1930, Bernice married Fred C. Shaffer. She was a member of the Millstone Church of Christ.
She is survived by her children Don (Mary) Shaffer of Cleveland OH, James (Cynthia) Shaffer of Hartville OH, Paul (Carolyn) Shaffer of Mt. Zion, Kathryn Wilson of Medina OH.
Thirteen grandchildren survive, Anne Marie Shaffer and Raymond Shaffer, both of Cleveland OH, Sharon Shafffer of Elyria OH, Jean Schroader of Owensboro KY, Carolyn Myers of Round Rock TX, Roberta Joe Whetzel of Ranson WV, Nicholas Wilson, of Medina OH, Lisa Moore of Cross Lanes WV, Jason Shaffer of Scott Depot WV, Fred Shaffer of Bellefontaine OH, Charles Shaffer of Marysville OH, Elizabeth McKinley of Macedonia OH and Sara Viar Hudson OH; step grandchildren, Carol Hubbard of Cleveland OH and Steve Hubbard of Hartsgrove OH.
She is also survived by 26 great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband of over 62 years, Fred C. Shaffer; children Harlan, Joe and Thomas Shaffer; brothers Bernard, Benton and Francis (Pete) Wilmoth; sisters Delia Gunn, Earles Starcher, Hazel Riddle and Janice Miller; grandchild Robert Carr Shaffer; step grandchild Gary Hubbard.
Funeral services will be held Saturday December 21, 2013, 1:00 pm at the Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg with Rev. Vernon Kerns officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday.
