| Rhoda G. Starcher Griffin, 94, of Spencer, died Saturday, December 14, 2013, in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
She was born November 18, 1919, in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Neal and Grace Sampson Starcher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Smith; and a son, Dannie Clayton Griffin; eight sisters, Edna Starcher, Thelma Carpenter, Ethel Bowers, Hattie Runnion, Eloise Smith, Eleanor Goodrich, Ora Bowley and Hazel Starcher; six brothers, Lonnie, Clifford, Harold, Otho, Deo and Pete Starcher; a half-brother, Alvie Starcher.
Mrs. Griffin was a retired employee of Miletree Center and a former employee of Gordon Memorial Hospital and Angelcare. She also enjoyed cooking and spending time with family.
Survivors include three daughters and son-in-law, Sally Anderson and Connie Dilley both of Spencer, Gloria and Pete Dickey of Senecaville, OH; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Vickie Griffin and Fred and Naoma Griffin all of Spencer; 13 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 17 in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Jeffrey Jett officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service.
