| Opal Houchin Jett, 101, of Arnoldsburg went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 12, 2013 after a brief illness.
She was born February 1, 1912 in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Grover and Stella Matheny Houchin. She was a member of the Beech United Methodist Church and enjoyed quilting, sewing, pie baking, gardening, canning, singing hymns and farming.
Surviving are a son, William Michael Jett of Spencer and a brother Grover Houchin Jr. of Beech and several nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband Claude Jett; sisters Eula Kerns, Ruth Simmons, Madge McKown, Ellen Marie McKown and Bernice Laughlin; brothers Forest and Clyde Houchin as well as two infant siblings.
The family would like to thank all the family, friends and caregivers who helped in any way.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2013, 1:00 pm at the Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg. Interment will follow in the Houchin Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 pm Monday. |
