CLAY MAN SENTENCED 20 YEARS FOR TWO-STATE METH OPERATION

(12/14/2013)
A Clay County resident who was accused and convicted of running a methamphetamine trafficking ring from North Carolina to West Virginia has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

According to release from US Attorney Booth Goodwin, Raymond Hersman, 47, of Wallback, was convicted last May for selling methamphetamine.

The release states that two members of the West Virginia State Police, who died in the line of duty, were key members of the investigation.

Cpl. Marshall Bailey and Trooper Eric Workman both assisted in the investigation of the Hersman case.

Cpl. Bailey and Trooper Workman were killed during a traffic stop in August 2012 at Wallback by a man they took into custody.
