The Creston Community Christmas Party will be held Saturday, December 14, starting at 5 P. M. at the Creston Community Building. Food for the meal should be coordinated with either Rosie White or Connie Boggs. There was still some needs for donations for the candy treat bags. Of course everyone is invited to attend.

The Creston area had rain and high water with some roads closed and then on Sunday at least 8" of snow fell before drizzle/sleet started. Cap'n Spock, with assistance from Ralphie, the wife & Jeremy Ferrell plowed off several area roads and driveways so folks could get to work, etc.

Charles Russell attended the Christmas Dinner held at the Miletree Center in Spencer.

Over $1,400 was raised Saturday at the benefit for Jessica Jett.

It was reported that Christina Miller met up with Bambi and then on Sunday she had another "bumpy experience".

Some local folks attended the Extension Homemakers (CEOS) Christmas Dinner and bazaar at the old Gilmer County Poor Farm.

Orson C. Shrader, age 75, of Creston passed away at the Worthington Manor nursing home in Parkersburg. He had not been well for some time.

Gordon Gee is back in charge of the university up at Morgantown. Some years back he had to resign because he made public statements about a plan to relocate West Virginia residents to "selected larger sites" so as to "easier provide services". A "social engineer" who, no doubt, has our best interests in mind. Speaking of such, the educrats are continuing with Bill Ayers' Common Core curriculum to indoctrinate and dumb down the state's youth. Apparently, drastic action needs to be taken Down at the Mouth of the Elk. This writer's grandmother had a great grasp of mathematics but, of course, she learned from the Ray's series. Perhaps a better informed workforce could be provided local employers of such was done again.

The federales continue to advertise their flood insurance even though, by edict or whatever, no one else can sell flood insurance.. Of course the plan is the same for health insurance & the debacle continues to get worse as more lose their insurance, all of which is part of the plan. Those who work will have less and care will be harder to obtain. Illegal aliens and those who choose not to work will be rewarded. A good local example is the planned closing of one of the hospitals in Parkersburg.

Rev. Keith Belt was calling at the emergency room and Jenny Belt is on the mend after having a pacemaker installed.

Enterprise Products Partners announced that ethane is now going into their ATEX (Appalachia to Texas) pipeline on its way to cracker plants and manufacturing facilities in the Gulf of Mexico. The company announced that they would have connections among all the plants there as well as storage facilities and export terminals.

Michael Filloon who writes on Seeking Alpha noted that the super rich Marcellus which includes the "sweet spot" in Pennsylvania and the new wells in Ritchie & Doddridge Counties have a 74% return on investment, the best of any shale play in the nation. Behind that is the Utica Liquids rich at 73%. That area likely includes in West Virginia Wood & most of Wirt, Calhoun, Roane, Jackson, etc. counties. The big boys don't want to pay bonuses and royalties (cuz ours ain't no good) but by comparison the Bakken rates 35% and the Fayetteville that fetched bonuses of $25,000/acre and 25% royalties rates only 24%, equal to the Barnett. The flim flammers are trying to get the legislature to make sure West Virginia gets ripped off again just as was done by the coal barons and old John D. Rockefeller over a century ago.

The price of local natural gas fetched $2.85 while the price of local Pennsylvania grade crude rose to $95.15 with drip [Appalachian light sweet] brought $74.03, Marcellus & Utica light $87.95 and medium $96.65/bbl.
