Calhoun won four of five periods en route to taking a 69-38 scrimmage victory over visiting Tyler Consolidated Thursday night in boys basketball.
The Red Devils won the first (15-10), second (15-11), fourth (15-7) and fifth (13-6) periods. Tyler had a 13-11 advantage in the third period.
In the junior varsity matchup Tyler Consolidated won both halves en route to the 48-19 victory. Tyler took the first half 32-4 but had a much tougher time in the second half with a mere 16-15 advantage.
Calhoun, which will make its season debut Dec. 11 at home against Ritchie County, was led by returning all-LKC second team performer Ryan Slider with 18 points while Tyler Gerwig added 17.
Sophomore Ethyn Miller chipped in with nine. He was followed by Tyler Sims with seven, Mason Sheldon with six, Lucas Wilson with five, Sam Brady with four, Luke Sheldon with two and Cody Starcher played but did not score.
Along with his 18 points Slider also had 14 rebounds, three steals and an assist.
Mason Sheldon had nine rebounds while Gerwig had seven. Sims led the way with five assists while Mason Sheldon added three.
For the junior varsity Austin Gribble led a balanced attack with six while Chris Thornton added five and Zack Yanero and Dylan Heiney four each.
