The greatest honor that one can receive is one conveyed by one's peers. At the 60th Annual State School
Transportation Conference in Morgantown on July 30, 2002, the transportation administrators of the West
Virginia Association of Pupil Transportation (WVAPT) selected Donnie Pitts as Director of the Year. That
recognition was based on the management of his responsibilities as director of school transportation in Calhoun
County.
Wayne Clutter, Executive Director of the West Virginia Office of School Transportation and Facilities, stated "I
have considered it a privilege to work with Mr. Pitts for a number of years and appreciate his integrity,
professionalism and concern for students. He is most deserving of this recognition."
In addition to school transportation, Mr. Pitts manages maintenance, school food service and facilities. According
to Ron Blankenship, Calhoun Superintendent, "Donnie Pitts is responsible for tasks that are delegated to at least
four people in larger school systems. The WVAPT could not have chosen a more deserving person."
