Irene Flynn Owen, of Elizabeth, W.Va., passed away November 28, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Wayne County, Kentucky, daughter of Luster Flynn and Marie Gholson Flynn. She married her husband of 50 years, William Lewis "W.L." Owen, in 1946.
Irene had been a resident of Elizabeth since 1958 and was an active member of the community until her death. For many years she was employed by Village Cable. She had great enthusiasm for arts and crafts, antiques, and crocheting. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.L. Owen; her son, Lewis Ray Owen; her brother, Ray Flynn; her sister, Edesel Cook; and son-in-law James Townsend.
Irene is survived by her daughters, Dolores Owen Townsend of Mineral Wells, W.Va., and Donna Owen Mills of Parkersburg, W.Va.; daughter-in-law Peggy Owen of Parkersburg, W.Va.; grandchildren Craig Mills of Hartley, W.Va., Kim Owen Humphrey of Dublin, Ohio, Kara Owen King and her husband Sherman King of Belpre, Ohio, and Danny Owen of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and great-grandchildren Devin Hoehn and Briahna King of Parkersburg, W.Va., Brianna Owen and Isaiah Owen of Belpre, Ohio, and Sam Humphrey and Dylan Humphrey of Dublin, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the Parkersburg Coalition for the Homeless.
A viewing will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 at Busch Kimes in Elizabeth on Saturday, November 30. the funeral will be at 1:00 on Sunday, December 1. Burial will follow at K of P Cemetery in Elizabeth.
