The Salvation Army Parkersburg will be providing enough food to their help surrounding areas serve Thanksgiving Day meals to those in their counties on Thursday, November 28, 2013. Below are the following locations and serving time.
Calhoun County â Senior Center, 105 Market Street, Grantsville WV (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
Wirt County â Wirt County High School, Elizabeth WV (12-noon)
Pleasants County â Senior Center, 209 2" St/Main Street, St. Marys WV (12-noon)
Ritchie County â 4-H Grounds, Harrisville WV (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
Jackson County â Ravenswood High School, Ravenswood WV (12-noon)
Wood County â The Salvation Army, 534 5th Street, Parkersburg WV (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
A traditional Thanksgiving Day meal will be served; Turkey, stuffing, gravy, green beans, cranberries, rolls, pumpkin pie, with tea and coffee.
Last year, 2,880 meals were served to residents in all six counties. 1,330 meals were home delivered to homebound residents. Over 800 volunteers gave over 3,600 hours of service. "We're thankful for all the volunteers and our neighboring partners who help serve on Thanksgiving Day," said Lt. Mechelle Henry, Pastor/Commanding Officer of The Salvation Army.
"We are blessed to give back to our counties, who give so much to support The Salvation Army." Thanks to the volunteer efforts, The Salvation Army in Wood County is able to feed over 1,000 people on Thanksgiving Day.
