ROANE HISTORICAL SOCIETY HOSTS "HISTORY ALIVE!" THURSDAY - Doug Wood Portrays Cherokee Ostenaco

SPENCER, W.Va. - Ostenaco (ca.1703-1780) Cherokee warrior leader, aka "Mankiller" & "Judd's Friend", will be portrayed by Doug Wood of Nitro, at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Roane County Library in Spencer before the regular meeting of the Roane County Historical Society, Inc.

The presentation is part of the History Alive! program and is made possible by the West Virginia Humanities Council.

Ostenaco is one of the many character presentations offered through the West Virginia Humanities Council's History Alive! program as a means of exploring history by interacting with noteworthy historical figures.

These programs, free to the public, provide audiences with the opportunity to learn and ask questions about individuals who have shaped our history.

Mark your calendars - School groups, Scouts, 4-H groups and the general public are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.
