FORMER BRAXTON MAN DUNBAR SENTENCED TO PRISON OVER INCEST CHARGES

UPDATE - Billy Dunbar appeared for sentencing in Calhoun Circuit Court on his guilty plea to three counts of incest, all felonies.

Judge Thomas Evans III sentenced Dunbar five to fifteen years in the state penitentiary on each count. Two of the sentences are to be served consecutively and the third is to be served concurrently.

Prosecutor Shannon Johnson said the Dunbar will serve a total of ten to thirty years in prison. Upon his release, he will be placed on twenty five years supervised probation and will register as a sex offender.

UPDATE (5/18) - Billy Dunbar, Sr., 53, of Braxton County, entered a plea of guilty to three counts of incest, all felonies, earlier this year, according to prosecutor Shannon Johnson.

Dunbar will appear Monday in Calhoun Circuit Court for sentencing before Judge Thomas Evans III.

ORIGINAL STORY 2/28/2015 - A Braxton County man, Billy Dunbar, Sr., 53, will appear Monday before Judge Thomas Evans III in Calhoun Circuit Court for a plea or scheduling, involving multiple counts of incest and sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, or custodian.

Dunbar's case had been set for trial in February.

Dunbar was indicted in Calhoun on twenty five counts of sexual abuse, including incest.

Sr. Trooper J. A. Newman, in a criminal complaint, said that Dunbar "had to clear his conscience," turning himself into the WV State Police, having had a sexual relationship with his 16-year-old daughter and impregnating her.
