| Bobby Gene Roberts age 82, Route 5 West, Glenville, (Lower Cedar Creek Community), departed this life on Wednesday, October 22, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by family and friends following an extended illness.
Born February 25, 1931 in Pike County, Kentucky, son of the late Sam and Madge Bell Roberts.
Bobby Gene was a farmer all his life, he also had a sawmill, and timber service. He retired from the WV Dept. of Agriculture, in the Animal Health Division, with 23 1/2 years of service, and ran the Roberts Riding Stable for over 10 years. Bobby Gene loved to play music and played at the West Virginia Folk Festival for over 40 years. He was also a Methodist by faith.
On October 30, 1993 he was united in marriage to Ruth Barnett, who survives at their Route 5 home.
Surviving are 2 sons, Jeff Roberts and wife Robin, Carl Roberts all of Glenville; 3 stepdaughters, Jeanne Richards and husband Earnest of Lockney WV; Jenny Starcher and Barbara Smith of Glenville WV; 2 brothers, Reggie Roberts and wife Rose and John Paul Roberts and wife Doris "Mug" all of Glenville. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
Bobby Gene was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Madge Bell Roberts.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc. 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV 26351 at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 with Rev. Joe Sealey and Rev. Phil Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery, Route 5 west of Glenville at the mouth of Holts Run Road. Friends may call from 4-8 Friday at the Mortuary.
