CMS Volleyball week 3 round up
The Calhoun Middle School Lady Red Devils faced a tough competition to start out the week facing Braxton County. The B team came up short with Braxton handing Calhoun their first loss of the season with final scores of 25-7 and 25-9. The players were faced with very experienced players and hard to handle serves. In both sets, however, Calhoun managed to cover the court well and kept their effort going from start to finish.
In the A game, the Devils tried to make the game competitive, but ended up losing to Braxton in the first two sets, 25-13 and 25-12. Braxton gave up 16 rally points in these sets, this is a direct result of great communication and discipline from the Calhoun Red Devils of knowing the rules of the game.
Coming back after a tough Braxton game, the CMS volleyball team travelled to Spencer and bounced back tremendously from Tuesday's performance. The B team had an impressive first set win ending 25-10. Paige Mangus accounted for 15 points, 6 of these being aces. In the second set, Brandee Allen, Alison Dennis, and Megan Harding had a combined effort score of 17 points to boost the Devils on top of Spencer with a final score, 25-21.
Later in the evening, the A team faced Spencer and unfortunately came up short in both sets to the Yellowjackets, 25-16 and 25-22. The ladies made Spencer work for their points though and tried all evening to get the points needed for their team. Overall, the CMS B Team moves to 5-1 and the A team is now 0-6 on the season.
