Ira "Ray" Wayne, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, September 21, 2013.
Quick-witted, strong and gifted with numbers, Ray touched the lives of everyone he met. He had an infectious Cheshire grin, and earned the respect of those around him by his honesty, kindness and ingenuity. He led a full life that was rich in love and character. A truck driver for 33 years, he took pride in working hard and instilled that value in his family. He was a devout Christian and enjoyed being with family and friends.
Born in Kayford, WV, on April 13, 1939 to the late Noah and Ruth Wayne, he resided in Newark, WV, since 1994.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Doris, of 53 years; loving children Jeff Case, Kimberly (Carmen) Calabrese, John (Tracey) Wayne, Melissa (Rick) Armbrust, Christopher (Tammy) Wayne, and Andrea (David) Joliet; treasured grandchildren Andy and Angela Case, Stephanie (Jason) Good, Whitney Wayne, Allison Reynolds, Brandon Hickman, and Cailee Calabrese; great grandchildren Emily, Aubrey, and Mason; brothers Roger, Ora, and Robert "Bobby" Wayne; sister Patsy Grouch; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his twin sister Iva "Mae" Williams and brother James "Vernon" Wayne.
Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and the funeral service will be at noon Wednesday at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg. Minister Roger Wayne will be officiating.
